I think I was involved in some of the first [em]original[/em] podcasting back in the late 1990s; on a few QuakeCasts by Pseudo Networks. At that time, it was called "Net TV." I'm sure a few of those individuals have been thinking over the year 2005, "Hey! I did that years ago!" Well, it's true... you did. But as things generally go in this growing community, someone feels the self-importance to step up, puts a lame new, "fresh" title on it, and appoint themselves as the ambassador or originator of this "old" technology.
